Since ancient times, the Danube River has always been one of the most important exchange corridors in Europe, ISTER refers to the ancient Greek name of the Danube. The VIA ISTER aims at connecting monuments of the Roman Empire along historic Roman routes in the Danube region in Central and Eastern Europe.
